Procedures

You’ll receive unsurpassed service and unparalleled expertise from Dr. Tokarz, a Board-Certified Dermatologist and laser expert. We offer the latest & most advanced dermatological treatments such as:

+ Neuromodulators - Botox® & Dysport®

These medications are injected into specific muscles to temporarily reduce movement. The action of these muscles cause your eyes to look tired or angry and will make these wrinkles stay permanently with age. Dr. Tokarz injects this medication to give you a natural “rested” appearance, not the “frozen look”. Other areas that can benefit include lines around your mouth, nose and neck bands. It takes up to 2 weeks to see the effect and lasts 14 weeks. Maintenance is required to keep that rested appearance and improve those lines or prevent them from forming in the first place.

+ Fillers - Juvederm®, Restylane®, Radiesse®, RHA® Collection

These medications are used to improve volume loss which is a natural part of aging. Dr. Tokarz believes the purpose of filling is to gently brighten your appearance to diminish that natural loss, such as into the cheeks to help elevate sunken bone and change the reflection of your under-eye circles. Other areas where we see loss of tissue include around the sides of our mouth, lips and temples. During your treatment, Dr. Tokarz may use local anesthesia and Micro-cannulas to help minimize bruising, swelling and discomfort so that your treatment will not be obvious. Fillers have variable longevity, depending on the areas injected, ranging from 6 to 18 months.

+ Bio-stimulatory Fillers - Radiesse®, Sculptra®

Bio-stimulating medications are injectables that offer more than just a filling effect. In fact, while they give some initial volume, they really work over time to stimulate collagen for long-lasting fullness, tightening, and improved skin texture which help reduce fine lines, hallowing, and sagging. Results can be seen as quickly as four weeks after injections. More than one treatment may be needed to achieve desired affect. The injections work best for faces who have volume loss in the mid-cheek, temples and jawline. They cannot be used under the eyes or into the lips. They can be used in combination with other conventional fillers to make your face appear balanced, healthy and natural.

+ IPL “Intense Pulse Light” Photorejuvenation

This unique IPL Photorejuvenation is a gentle, and yet powerfully effective treatment that helps with a variety of skin conditions especially reds and browns. It is ideal for effects of sun damage including brown spots, freckles, enlarged blood vessels, and also for rosacea. Great results may be achieved with as few as 1 treatment, but a series of 3 treatments are recommended spaced 3 - 4 weeks apart for optimal results. This treatment has very little to no down time and helps with overall skin tone and appearance.

+ ResurFX - Fractional Non-Ablative Resurfacing Laser Treatment

This laser uses very powerful technology to improve fine lines, wrinkles, and skin texture as it targets the dermis to stimulate new collagen growth. This treatment addresses both tone and textural irregularities. It has also proven very successful on stretch marks and scars. Gradual improvements may be seen as soon as a couple of weeks after treatment, benefits of collagen production start appearing after 3 months. There may be some redness and swelling right after the treatment but minimal to no social downtime is expected. A series of 3 treatments is recommended for optimal results.

+ Deep RX/ActiveFX CO2 Skin Resurfacing

The CO2 laser is the most powerful laser available to dermatologists, using precision and advanced technology to ablate (peel) the skin while leaving a fraction of normal skin behind. This procedure allows faster healing time for serious full face resurfacing with both deep (collagen stimulating) and superficial (sun spots and rough texture) settings. CO2 skin resurfacing is ideal for significant sun-damaged skin and wrinkles to achieve rejuvenation and tightening without surgery and you'll see results after a single session! It is also a powerful tool to improve scars of all types without surgical intervention and little downtime. Full face, eye and mouth treatments do need some time off regular activities where you’ll resume your regular routine in about a week.

+ Chemical Peels

Chemical peels are medications containing specific acids applied to the face and other areas of the body to cause a peel reaction. This procedure is helpful for patients who need a boost on acne therapy, melasma pigment conditions, and for overall sun damaged skin. Chemical Peels improve skin texture, pigmentation caused by the sun and add glow to the skin. Ideal for most skin types. Most chemical peels are done in a series of treatments, 3 - 4 weeks apart for optimal benefits.

+ Benign Lesions

Dr. Tokarz is a board certified dermatologist and has a large skill set to help rid you of unwanted “lumps and bumps”. These include but are not limited to: skin tags, seborrheic keratosis, sebaceous hyperplasia, benign moles, venous lakes, milia, xanthelasma, syringomas and even benign congenital lesions. She’ll decide the most cost effective and cosmetically beneficial treatment using her vast assortment of dermatologist specific tools at her disposal (e.g. lasers, electrocautery, liquid nitrogen). And she’ll be sure to use anesthesia if she anticipates discomfort.

+ Regenerative Medicine

Regenerative medicine has been increasingly used for various areas of medicine and more recently skin doctors are applying it for treatment of hair loss, acne scars, and to help improve overall skin texture and wrinkling along with under-eye dark circles. The concept is based on use of autologous platelets (meaning from your own body) which are known to have a variety of growth factors which we know will stimulate various cellular pathways in the skin in order to help with tissue remodeling. The procedure involves taking a patients own blood (a small amount, equal to less than 5 teaspoons) which is then processed in special tubes and a centrifuge in order to separate the healthy platelets and plasma from the irritating red and white blood cells. Importantly this valuable “golden serum” is then treated with a special technique in order to allow for slow release of the platelets and growth factors to achieve the best results. At this point it’s known as PRFM or Platelet Rich Fibrin Matrix. Dr. Tokarz will either inject this into the skin or topically apply during a laser or micro-needling procedure allowing it to seep into the micro-channels created by these procedures. These treatments require a commitment from our patients understanding that they will need at least 3 treatments if performing CO2 laser in order for the bio-stimulation to be maximized. For anyone having this treatment for hair loss, it is an ongoing commitment approximately every 3 months following 3 monthly injections and likely in addition to other hair loss treatments (ex. Rogaine). Because the evidence in medical literature is showing more and more benefits, we believe this will be a highly valuable therapy and worth the commitment. Similar to other skin treatments Dr. Tokarz considers this to be an adjunct to daily sun protection, nightly retinoids and other therapies.

+ Treatment of Unwanted Fat Collections

Do you have fat under your chin, that no matter what you do, can’t seem to make it thinner? Do you work out and just can’t seem to get rid of that fat under your belly-button? Both of these scenarios can potentially be treated with a prescription medication injected by Dr. Tokarz to reduce the fat long term. The medication is called Kybella® and has been FDA approved for treatment of under chin fat pockets but is also used off label by dermatologists in specific locations for fat collections such as underneath the belly-button. The treatment will cause redness and swelling which will last one week and numbness to the area about 4 weeks. Most patients need 2-4 injection treatments, spaced 4 weeks apart. Call our office and set up a consultation and you can start down the path to get rid of the unwanted fat pockets and improve your appearance.

+ Stretch Marks

Is there any way to reduce the annoying lines we call stretch marks (Striae Distensae)? Sadly there is no cream which exists to erase these lines caused by stretching and thinning of the collagen in the dermal layer of our skin. However use of laser technology to create micro-thermal injury zones into the thinned collagen which will trigger the body’s own repair cascade to help rebuild and remodel that collagen. Dr. Tokarz has two lasers she uses to address this. Both of the treatments can cause swelling and some pigment changes in the skin which can last weeks to months. Multiple treatments are needed to achieve optimal results usually spaced 4-8 weeks apart. There is very little downtime or restrictions after the treatment. Call our office to set up a consultation with Dr. Tokarz and take your first step towards reducing those annoying stretch marks for good.
